Exhibition at UCA

 

SHAPING GLASS | SHAPING FUTURES: A showcase of glasswork by UCA staff, students, alumni, and AiRs.To celebrate the inauguration of the first Farnham Craft Town artist residency, the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) proudly presents The October Farnham Crafts Month exhibition, Shaping Glass | Shaping Futures, to be held at the James Hockey Gallery from October 1st to October 31st, 2024. UCA students, staff and AiRs past and present are invited to submit a proposal and images of their glass work for consideration by the event committee.

We seek proposals for glass works that represent a significant evolution in your artistic practice and reflect your influence from your time at UCA. The proposals for work are not limited to presenting glass artworks but can also include physical objects such as sketchbooks, experiments, and innovative tools as wells as digital formats. Some ideas for digital submissions may include films, photography, animations, documentaries of the making process, or digital representations of sketchbooks. We welcome applications from tutors, technical staff, students and artists in residence past and present. We will select up to 25 artists for the exhibition.

 

This exhibition will celebrate the rich heritage and legacyof glass making at UCA, Farnham. The exhibition is a collaboration between theUCA Surrey Gallery and the Ceramics & Glass department at UCA.

Glass Beginnings

The Contemporary Glass Society 

Established in 2018, General Office is an independent gallery, based in Stourbridge. It houses artists’ studios and a hireable gallery and print room. The gallery delivers a programme of contemporary exhibitions of fine art, photography, glass and ceramics, and holds regular classes, workshops and a variety of talks and screenings. The aim of the gallery is to provide space for local and national artists and creatives to exhibit, collaborate and engage the public with contemporary art practices within the Dudley Borough. Since its opening, the gallery has showcased works by over 250 artists and makers across a variety of disciplines. www.generaloffice.co.uk

This joint project is creating a new exhibition entitled “Glass Beginnings: Graduates of 2024”. It will feature between 10 and15 graduates selected from all those graduating from a British or Irish accredited course or graduating from a British or Irish accredited MA or PhD course in 2024. All graduates will be able to apply with work which comprises of at least 50% glass and will also have the chance to win a range of prizes. It is anticipated that one or two past winners of the Glass Sellers and CGS New Graduate Prize will also be invited to exhibit alongside the successful graduates.

 

 

 

"Carnival Couture" - Wettbewerb

Elisabeth Ritterswürden und Lisa Preußner, zwei junge Glasschaffende aus Zwiesel und Frauenau, haben ein Ausstellungsprojekt unter dem Titel "Carnival Couture- Glas in Mode"  initiiert. Von der Idee über die Ausschreibung bis hin zu Gestaltung des Logos und der Homepage haben sie alles in Eigenregie übernommen. Viel Herzblut haben sie bisher schon in das Projekt gesteckt. Jetzt sind sie auf der Suche nach Teilnehmer*innen an dem Projekt.
